Wouldn't it be better /
cheaper to put all my guitars in a back bedroom with a standard household
humidifier? There are several potential problems with this
approach. At these levels of relative humidity the temperature
differential with exterior walls and windows can result in condensation.
This water can rot wood, peel paint, and cause molds to develop, even
inside the walls. The controls on these humidifiers are
notoriously inaccurate, requiring daily checking and adjustment.
Summer dehumidifiers have the same problem. Add in blower noise,
carrying pots of water through the house, and dealing with someone
always leaving
the door open and this 'simple' system looses its' appeal.
Finally, your guitars are once again locked up and out of sight.

I have a forced air heating system; wouldn't it be
better / cheaper to install a whole house humidifier? The main
problem here involves run time and humidifier output. On most
residential systems, the humidifier only runs when the thermostat calls
for heat. The humidifier simply cannot add enough moisture in the
air during these brief period to significantly elevate or maintain the
levels of humidity required for guitars and other stringed instruments.
An alternative is to modify the system so that the furnace blower runs
continuously and the humidifier cycles with the humidistat. The
big problem here is occupant comfort. When you recirculate 68° to
70° air that is more humid than the room air the result
is drafty and bone-chilling. And, as indicated above, raising the
relative humidity in a room with exterior walls and windows invites
condensation with resulting damage and molds.

What are the cabinet
dimensions? The standard 3-guitar cabinet is 76" high x
25"deep x 42" wide (the width including standard trim is 46"). The
4-guitar cabinet is 76" high x 25" deep x 48" wide (the width including
standard trim is 52").

How often do I have to change
the humidifier wicks? Under normal usage, every 6
months. Your cabinet ships with 2 wicks.
-
Can I get a cabinet to match my
existing furniture or decor? Yes. simply send us
photographs of your existing pieces or of sample pieces that have 'the
look' you desire. You can even request special inlay of the doors,
frame, etc. Let us know what you want and we will provide a quote.
-
What if I am more concerned with security than
display? Although it will never be a vault, we can build
the cabinet with solid wood doors and sides instead of glass and provide
a security locking system on the doors. Contact us for details.
